Remember days in a month: the Knuckles Trick

How to remember how many days there are in a month. Everyone knows February is 28, but is it 30 days or 31 this month? This old count your way along the knuckles trick does it for me.

It was pointed out to me that you can also do this with just one fist—leaving you the other hand to tap along the knuckles as you count through the months—by starting back again from the beginning.

I still use the rhyme “30 days has November, April, June and September.” All the rest have 31 except February. But, like the old "In fourteen hundred and ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue" it leaves me with some uncertainty. Just as 'seventy two' or 'sixty two' rhymes just as well as 'ninety two' so December rhymes just as well as September. So the knuckle trick is a good one if you're away from a calendar with a doubt in your mind.
